Three Bold Mexican Chocolate Coffee Recipes: Spice, Warmth, and Tradition

Mexican chocolate is a celebration of bold flavors—rich cacao, warm cinnamon, and a hint of spice that awakens the senses. Our small-batch Mexican Chocolate coffee honors this tradition with notes of dark chocolate, cinnamon, and subtle heat that create a truly distinctive coffee experience.

We've created three recipes that showcase the complexity of Mexican chocolate, from a traditional mocha to an adventurous spiced latte.

Mexican Chocolate Mocha Ingredients

1. Mexican Chocolate Mocha

What You'll Need:

  • 2 shots espresso or 1/2 cup strong-brewed Mexican Chocolate coffee
  • 1 cup steamed milk
  • 2 tablespoons dark chocolate sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon syrup
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Cinnamon whipped cream
  • Cinnamon stick for garnish
  • Dark chocolate shavings

Method:

Combine dark chocolate sauce, cinnamon syrup, and a small pinch of cayenne pepper in your mug. Add freshly brewed espresso or coffee and stir until the chocolate is fully melted and incorporated. Pour in steamed milk, creating a smooth, velvety texture. Top with cinnamon-spiced whipped cream (whip cream with a dash of cinnamon). Garnish with a cinnamon stick and dark chocolate shavings. The subtle heat from the cayenne adds an authentic Mexican chocolate experience.

  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon syrup
  • Chili powder and cinnamon for rim
  • Cold foam
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Method:

Create a spiced rim by mixing equal parts chili powder and cinnamon with a touch of sugar. Moisten the rim of a tall glass and dip it in the spice mixture. Fill the glass with ice. Mix cooled Mexican Chocolate coffee with milk, chocolate syrup, and cinnamon syrup, then pour over ice. Top with a thick layer of cold foam and dust with cocoa powder. The spiced rim adds an extra dimension of flavor with every sip—sweet, spicy, and utterly unique.
